Assignment Process
For the Class of 2026: You will have two quarters of campus service during your junior year, with one of those quarters being with the Cafeteria or Grounds for most of you. You will be expected to complete two hours of campus service per week during your 'on' quarters. You will have campus service during all four quarters of your senior year and the weekly expectation slightly increases, to three hours per week.
Quarters for the 2024-2025 School Year
Q1: Tuesday 8/13 - Sunday 10/13
Q2: Monday 10/14 - Friday 12/13
Q3: Monday 2/3 - Sunday 3/30
Q4: Monday 3/31 - Wednesday 5/21
In January, the senior leadership campus service site gets updated and goes live for that school year's application and selection process. Not all senior campus service positions are assigned through this process.
In April, the "Welcome to NCSSM" site will be shared with our finalists and it includes a page on campus service where the incoming juniors submit their special interests, related experiences, etc. via the Campus Service Preferences form. Juniors have the option to pick up a campus service assignment to earn Service Learning hours.
In late April or early May, the campus service coordinator emails all employees with information on how to request incoming juniors and rising seniors for the upcoming school year and the Campus Service Supervisor Request form. Employees looking to serve as campus service supervisors for the upcoming school year will fill out the Google form to request a specific number of juniors and/or seniors, as well as submit any special needs for their campus service assignment. Campus service supervisors can also recruit specific seniors for their assignment; those students will then submit their campus service assignment per the Campus Service Senior Signup form.
In late May or early June, the campus service coordinator uses the incoming juniors' responses from the Campus Service Preferences form to help place them into assignments for the upcoming school year. The campus service coordinator will also follow up with rising seniors that do not have an assignment yet during this time to find an assignment for them.
